I'm KJ; recently made this Camera Shrine

I’m KJ and I’m relatively new to the group. I’m out of Lynnwood, and primarily a hobbyist and about to start teaching at a makerspace again.

This is my Camera Shrine. It’s a display for my vintage cameras built on top of a tool chest that stores lenses, filters, tripod parts, etc.

Technically not finished, as I’m going to make floating shelves that match from the same slab, but I postponed that to work on some other stuff.

Monkeypod, grooved to fit the recessed lip of the chest, and a grid of threaded inserts to allow tripod heads to pose the cameras. This also allow them to be added or removed quickly when I decide to take one out with me.

Finished using walrus furniture oil followed by the butter.

Cheers,

-KJ

Cool idea to put the threaded inserts for easy camera mounting. That slab really pops with the finish, too!

Thanks all,

I got the vertical cabinet for the tool chest for tripods and bulkier gear. I’m going to make the floating slab shelves go up the side of it. Thought about seeing if I have enough left over to make a front door fascia for the cabinet. I did end up taking sections for a very large piece of slab since I had to find one that was big enough for the chest top that didn’t have a giant fork in it.

What does the fork look like?…

Could you have turned it into an accent feature?…

There isn’t one on this slab section, that’s why I got it. I could fill a large fork section with epoxy but that’s not what I want aesthetically.
