Looking for a bandsaw guru

HI everyone - sorry I’ve not been to any meetings lately. IsGood has been busy on Thursday evenings.

You may remember my giant 27" bandsaw - its old, there’s no manual, the company doesn’t exist and who knows what sort of retrofits there have been.

I’ve replaced the blade and a bunch of bearings in the guide rollers but I have exhausted my skill in getting the tension and alignment correct. I’m not a n00b - I’m quite adept with the smaller bandsaws but for whatever reason this one isn’t responding well.

Even the slightest extra tension on the blade makes is move forward to a dangerous position on the lower wheel and I’m out of bias adjustment. It was working before I took it apart so I’m down to the conclusion that its the blade itself (its brand new) or I am missing something about a bandsaw this size.

If any of you guys know someone who might know or enjoy fixing giant tools like this please let me know. Happy to pay - not looking for a freebie.

The Wood Technology Center in Seattle also has a huge bandsaw. Worth calling them to see who maintains it.

Hi!..
sounds like band wheels are out of coplaner…
this man, Alex Snodgrass, is a guru on band saws…

there are more of his vids on YT…

Hi @andydunn ,
I drive by IsGood all the time and would love to take a look. Wouldn’t call myself a guru but I’ve spent a lot of time with old machinery.

What are your typically shop hours? Weekdays only or some weekends too?
