I thought some people might be interested in a tool I acquired recently - a Powertec box-joint jig (1st picture). This device works similarly to shop-built jigs, but with an important difference: while most home-made jigs produce a single finger width, the Powertec can produce fingers from 1/8” to 13/16” wide, according to the manufacturer (adjustment mechanism shown in 2nd picture). The 3rd picture shows the very first test assembly, made of scrap fir. The fit was spot-on. Finally, the 4th picture shows a complete finger-jointed box made of an uncommon wood called paldao. The sides are actually square – parallax makes the shape look trapezoidal.
