That is spalted Alder, Stick, it sure finishes out attractively.

never saw any in person…
you get it that way or did you spalt your own???

I bought a PU load of lumber from a woodworkers estate sale,walnut, aromatic cedar and the alder. There was some misc. scrap stock of various kinds too. The good stuff was 1X6X7’ boards, all ruff sawn.
