Does anyone know where to buy or borrow a split nut driver. I need one to remove and replace the split nuts on a Disston miter saw so I can replace the handle. I was able to find a new handle. Now to remove the split nuts.
Hello John…
Does the nut look more like a washer w/ 2 holes in it?..
If i does, you are wanting snap ring pliers. They come in host sizes and types.
Straight, angled, fixed. interchangeable tips, and different size pins.
These pliers are carried by nearly any store or outlet you could go to.
An example.
If your nut configuration is like pictured, these pliers for this style nut come in flat tip also…
I strongly recommend a Convertible Retaining Ring Pliers w/ Interchangeable Tips.

If your nut configuration is different from what I believe it is, please post an image or describe it to us…
Plan “B”…
These come as driver bits, screwdrivers and sockets… They are number sized…
Where did you get the set with those split nut drivers?
which set are you asking about?
The set you referenced in your first reply to my question on split-nut drivers. You posted a picture of a split-nut toll that had come with some set of driver bits you have.
the bit that has notch out of it is your 1st choice…
the pliers are your 2nd choice…
they are sold any place that sells mechanics tools…
look in Lowes, Home Depot Ace hardware…
