Years ago the club would have a 2X4 Challenge in September. This particular year I made a wooden lever Action rifle. The lever ,Sliding Bolt,Trigger, hammer, mechanism worked. It used rubber bans springs inside.

wouldn’t the barrel/magazine assembly have been easier to do if you had used dowels and splined them together???

Since this was a 2X4 challenge contest of something made out of a 2X4 stud up to 8’ long it had to be made all from the same piece of wood.
