This is also known as the rule of thirds, one third rule, the golden proportion, Fibonacci ratio/sequence…
and…
If you look to Herb’s projects you’ll see that he has this down to a science even though he doesn’t know it… His brain is naturally wired w/ it, while others need to learn it… The projects that look the most pleasing conform to the gauge or are very very close…

Your belt driven tool needs a new belt but what length, or a replacement sheave or pulley… Maybe you’d like to fine tune them up a bit and you need to calculate belt length or gearing…
